About the Saints
The Cleveland Saints is a semi pro football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. We have applied for non-profit status with the State of Ohio and our 501(c)(3) certification for tax purposes. The Cleveland Saints Football Team consists of young men from the area who love the game and make a commitment to support the amateur football efforts in the area. These men are unpaid, choosing to volunteer their time, and are themselves equally responsible for raising money to help the sustain the team. Sponsorships and advertising are our only means of support, we are not funded by any organization or entity.
We work in liaison with the Cleveland Police Athletic (PAL) League’s Pee Wee Football and the Cleveland Municipal Football Leagues, helping to provide the youth with healthy, structured activities that will prepare future players of the game. The Pee Wee and Muni Leagues do a great job of preparing young men for the sport, however, at age 18, these players have slim opportunities to continue in professional football unless they attend college. Now, the Cleveland Saints will provide that opportunity, in addition to giving greater Clevelanders another sports team for entertainment and the development of city-pride.
The Cleveland Saints plan on giving back to the people and the communities that support it. We plan on starting a foundation to be able to help struggling players as well as other benevolent initiatives. The Saints also plan to "adopt" a family at holiday times and help out physically at the Cleveland Food bank.
The organization holds try-outs every year for players and cheerleaders. Yes, the Cleveland Saints also have their own cheerleading squad which provides opportunities for the young women in the greater Cleveland area to continue participating in cheer leading after high school.
Our goal is to perhaps see one of our players or cheerleaders become involved in the sport on a professional level. In order to make this happen, we rely on donations and sponsorships.
